The Tax Administration Department’s mission is to offer citizens a professional tax office and staff which accurately assesses all property and uses all legal means to collect taxes to the maximum extent possible. In order to meet that mission, our staff works diligently to ensure that all records are current and as accurate as possible to minimize confusion for prompt research and payment of taxes.
In Halifax County, the offices of the Tax Assessor and the Tax Collector are combined into a single office responsible for listing, appraising and assessing both real and personal property as well as billing and collecting the applicable taxes due on the property.
